The Choctaw Casino and Resort in Durant, Oklahoma is expanding its operations and adding more than 500 new jobs. Choctaw casino is just over a one hour and thirty minute drive from Dallas and only 12 miles across the Texas/Oklahoma border.

There was even more casino news in Bossier City, Louisiana this week, where over 500 people turned out to apply for 80 open positions at Margaritaville Casino. The jobs available are in food and beverage, information technology, surveillance, player development, retail, sales, security, table games, finance hotel, salon/spa, purchasing/warehouse and events and promotions. Bossier City is less than three hours from the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.

These are excellent examples of jobs and economic development Texas could have if it expanded gaming. It’s time for Texas to be a winner by creating jobs and increasing economic development, and let the voters decide on expanded gaming once and for all.
