Crime Continues at Unregulated Gaming Rooms Across Texas

There’s more game room crime popping up in unregulated game rooms in Texas. This time, a Northwest Dallas game room’s discrete location was revealed to police after an 8-liner game room operator pulled a gun on one of his patrons.  The patron was playing slots and went to collect his winnings but was told the machine wasn’t working properly, then told to get out at gunpoint. You can read more on this story at Dallas Morning News.

This serves as more evidence that unregulated, illegal game rooms across Texas are increasing crime and violence in the state.  With an estimated 200 unregulated game rooms in Houston alone, the problem will only get worse.

This is one more reason to let your legislator know that legal and regulated casino-style gaming in Texas will not only create jobs and boost local economies, but will also curb crimes related to the estimated thousands of unregulated gaming operations in the state.  Sign our petition or send a letter  directly to your legislator today!

In more cheerful news (not really!), Louisiana continues to raise huge sums of money from Texans traveling across state borders to enjoy casino-style gambling in the Pelican State.  In November, Louisiana’s casinos took nearly $193 million from gamblers. That’s $7.9 million more than October and $17.6 million more than November 2011.  It’s time to bring that money HOME!
