Texas voters missed an opportunity to vote on expanded gaming at the ballot this week on Election Day. However, just across the border in Oklahoma, Winstar Casino is on the winning end. Winstar announced that it plans to grow its casino operation. Expansion details include an 18-story hotel tower and a new pool facility and gaming plaza. The casino already has 7,600 games on 1.5 million square feet.
Texans travel every day to Oklahoma, Louisiana, and New Mexico to gamble. It’s estimated that Texans spend over $4.3 BILLION at casinos in neighboring states every year. That’s money that needs to stay in Texas! While Texas missed a big chance for increased revenues and jobs on Election Day, Winstar Casino took home the winnings with its new expansion plans.
